Individual film reviewing: Lazy Suzan
A story that could blend charm, humor and
clever storytelling into just few minutes is one that deserves a five-star
rating. Lazy Suzan by Terri Timely is one that does the unexpected. I’m about
five minutes it tells a funny and lighthearted story that leaves you smiling,
while also delivering a clever message about creativity and problem solving.
The film introduces two sisters with
opposite personalities, one lazy and the other energetic who intends to support
their family’s restaurant. This playful contrast draws the attention of
audience with its simple but effective humor. Without much dialogue, one would
quickly understand the personalities of both characters.
The story centering around their family’s
struggling restaurant which faces competition from a modern soup place, then
takes an unexpected turn when Suzan’s lazy habits turns into creativity
becoming surprisingly useful. Her creative solution inspired her desire of not
moving too much leads to an invention of the famous spinning tray. This twist
is funny and smart showing that even laziness can sometimes give an unexpected
turn to creativity and even solve big problems.
The film’ cinematography adds to its
charm. The circular movements and spinning shots of the record players, chairs
and food trays were not only fun but also showcased Suzan’s lazy invention. The
warm colour tones create a cozy atmosphere enhancing the lighthearted mood in
the film.
The playful and dramatic upbeat matched
the comedic tone perfectly revealing the essential role of sound in the film.
Additionally, the dialogue was clear and easy to follow balancing it with the
dramatic sound effects keeping the energy high and making the story fun leaving
a long lasting impression.
Exceeding ones expectations with funny,
smart and well made short comedic film, it comes along with great comedic
visuals, creative cinematography and strong performances showing the absolute
strength of the film while comedy lovers may wish it were longer. This film
would be highly recommendable to anyone looking for a quick laugh and clever
story, leaving a lasting impact that thinking differently even out of laziness
can sometimes lead to brilliant solutions. I would say Lazy Suzan is one of a
kind.
